What
A class to introduce the use of the SLR (Single Lens Reflex) digital camera. The parts of the camera, proper holding of the camera and basic camera functions will be explained with photographic examples which can be applied to various models of SLR cameras.
The advantages of the SLR camera over the PS ( Point and Shoot) camera and of RAW and JPEG shooting, memory card types-sizes and camera care are illustrated.
The use of lenses from wide angle to telephoto zoom are also discussed with image examples showing the application of these different lenses.
Various camera modes such as Program vs. Automatic and others that stop action and those that expand or reduce the depth of sharp focus are detailed. Using flash with a compatible flash accessory unit is also illustrated.
Bonus:
Better picture taking tips and composition are demonstrated in photographs.

Richard Vallon Jr.
Richard Vallon Jr. received a BFA in Photography from ASU Tempe in 1981. He worked as a medical photographer at Ochsner Hospital from 1984 until 1990. Since 1993, he has owned and operated Orleans Photo Inc. He has worked for a long list of clients. Richard loves teaching beginning students who share his love of the new digital photography. His reward is seeing how his instruction helps their understanding of a sometimes murky art.
